UPDATE March 18, 2020

I told our boys last night at the dinner table that we are experiencing an unprecedented time in history and Sam prayed that “God would make all things good again.”

This is exactly what God is doing! Through his son, Jesus, he is making all things good! Jesus is the one who holds all things together (Col. 1:15-20). Praise God that we have Someone who knows what’s going on and who will provide for our needs.

These truths free us from worry, anxiety, and depression regarding COVID-19 and all the fallout. Here is our plan for First Baptist Church moving forward:

1. All services, ministries, and events are cancelled until April 1.
We are thankful that God has made it possible for us to broadcast online during this time. We will livestream on Facebook a children’s service at 10AM on Sundays and a regular service will follow at 10:30. I’d like to encourage you to login at that time and participate with others. If you miss it, the services will be archived on our church Facebook page. We also will livestream a shorter update on Wednesdays at 7PM.

We will then assess our church ministry every two weeks regarding cancellations.

2. Pastor and Deacon Care
I will be working closely with the deacons to make sure our widows, older, and at risk people receive care. Please contact them or me if you need any assistance.

3. A Call to Action
I’d like to encourage you as individuals and families to be involved online as much as possible with the church ministries. Call one another, prayer with each other, and share how God has worked in your life. This is also a perfect opportunity to show love and compassion to your immediate neighbors.

I would still encourage you to be faithful in giving to our church ministry. You can mail your check to the church, drop it off during office hours, or by giving online at http://www.fbcpana.org/give. We are dependent on the gifts of God’s people to maintain operations and worshipping this way shows that we trust him.

Going Forward
Our church office will still be open Monday-Thursday from 8:30-1:30. However, no gatherings of any kind will be able to take place at any time within the building. Thank you for honoring this request.

A church member shared with me today that one of their sons saw the connection to our current situation with their family devotional last night. May we have that same faith in God’s promise:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling...Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:1-3, 10

In Christ, Pastor Nat
